Belknap's birthplace is Damariscotta in Maine. She is the child of David Belknap, and Louise Belknap. She went to Lincoln Academy in Newcastle Maine. When she was a student in Middlebury College (Vermont), she became interested in the art of acting. She then studied at the American Conservatory Theater earning a Master of Fine Arts degree. Belknap is famous for her TV roles including regular series roles (related to ER as well as Third Watch), The Handler in addition to frequent role. In the joint PEOPLE statement, Skylar Astin and Anna Camp confirmed that their separation was mutual and amicable.
